ImageMemorial Funeral Home and Life Insurance Company have been in existence for nearly sixty (60) years. Memorial was founded by the venerable visionary Rogers C. Jackson, Sr. along with Collie Webb, Josephine Miller, Rev. C. Boyd, Jasper Thomas, and Hardy Harris.

The company began with a dream of Mr. Jackson's desire to provide the best funeral service available at the height of segregation and in the midst of  African Americans' struggles.  Memorial's first funeral home was located in the community of Cotton Valley. With God's blessings, a drive to serve and countless volunteers and believers in Mr. Jackson's dream, the company  grew and now serves hundreds of families in five (5) locations across northwest Louisiana.

Rogers C. Jackson, Sr. "Big Jack" was known throughout northwest Louisiana as a principled man with keen business savvy. Without a formal education, he along with his wife, Lafaye Carter traveled along the roads of many towns offering insurance to  people in need. Mr. Jackson's philosophy was simple: "You can make it if you try." Every arrangement and every family serviced were his focus. He constantly tried to make Memorial better, and he tried within his power to make the communities where his funeral homes were located aware of issues, injustices and opportunities. Together, he and his wife gained a reputation second to none and became pioneers not only in the funeral and insurance industries but also as philanthropists and benefactors to worthy community causes. They believed in the biblical truth "To whom much is given, much is required."

The Memorial Tradition continues under the leadership and guidance of Lafaye C. Jackson. Upon her husband's death in August, 2004, Mrs. Jackson assumed the role as Chief Executive Officer and President. She has brought a myriad of new ideas, innovations and cemented The Memorial Tradition of Quality Services, Professional, Courteous Staff and Excellent Facilities and Merchandise. Further, under her leadership, The Rogers C. Jackson/Memorial Life Scholarship Fund was established. The final piece to this dream will be the addition of a Perpetual Care Cemetery.

Memorial Funeral Home and Life Insurance Company pride themselves on a tradition of excellence and service. Memorial is a name you can depend on and a name where service still matters and they still believe that "You can make it, if you try."
